Innovation in a Small Nation Symposium in Bangor is a Festival of Ideas where International and National speakers are invited in a day of hands-on collaboration, debate and exploration of innovation in Wales. Garrick Jones, from the London School of Economics and the Royal College of Art and a Ludic Group partner, with extensive experience in innovation and creativity at commercial, governmental and academic levels, will be discussing how Design Thinking is the Machine Code of Innovation.

The event aims to explore different ways innovation might look in a small nation – especially the more peripheral bits of it, to get a feel from those who arealready practicing innovators, to investigate and explore how innovators are managing to do it – what drives them and how they are supported.

The Festival is an event as part of the Ireland Wales Interreg project Inventorium. It is being supported by Pontio – whose physical manifestation – an arts and innovation centre being built in the centre of Bangor. Both Inventorium andPontio are premised on the idea that innovation is not a solitary activity – it requires conversation and multiple perspectives.
